Conflicts with youth welfare?

As a supra-regional ombudsman's office, we are not assigned to any service area.

For those seeking advice, this means:
Please check the map for your regional ombudsman's office and get in touch with your local contact person first.

You can contact your regional ombudsman's office if you need help and support.

Ist eine Ombudsstelle der richtige Ansprechpartner?

If you have a conflict with the youth welfare office or a youth welfare organisation (e.g. family support, residential group...), you are in the right place at an ombudsman's office.

The regional ombudsman's offices in Lower Saxony can

  • inform you about your rights

  • advise you on your specific concerns

  • and support you in asserting your rights

Our advice is for you

  • free of charge

  • and anonymously if you wish.

Are you still unsure whether you've come to the right place?
We can clarify this in an initial consultation!

The ombudspersons always work on behalf of you and your children.

This means that we do not put forward our own point of view. We support you and your family in being taken seriously by the youth welfare office and the support organisations.’

The ombudsman offices ensure a balance of power between the youth welfare professionals, the young people and their families in the youth welfare system.

Here are some examples of possible conflict situations in youth welfare services:

  • their requested youth welfare service has been rejected

  • Their current youth welfare services (e.g. family support) are to be terminated against their will they do not agree with the actions of the youth welfare organisation

  • they do not agree with the notice of seizure
