You can always contact the regional ombudsman office if you believe that you have a problem with your youth welfare office and/or your youth welfare provider.

As a first step, you can also seek advice anonymously .

In the following video, we explain how ombudsperson counselling works.

We help you to find goals and solutions together with you, because after all, they should fit your life.’

 

You already receive youth welfare or want to apply for it and

  •     don't feel properly understood?

  •     think you are being wronged?

  •     Are you looking for someone who can give you independent advice?

What can the ombudsman's office do for you?

  • We inform you about your rights.

  • We will advise you on what options are available to defend yourself against an unfair decision.

  • We will work with you to find solutions.

  • If necessary, we will accompany you to appointments with the youth welfare office or an independent youth welfare organisation.

 

Counselling is free of charge for you.
 We will treat your complaint confidentially.
 We can also offer you anonymous counselling.

BerNi is a contact point for the whole of Lower Saxony that is independent of the interests of public and private organisations and acts as a superordinate coordination and advice centre.

The ombudspersons always work on behalf of you and your family.

This means that we do not bring in our own point of view. We support you and your family in being taken seriously by the youth welfare office and the support organisations.’

There are many situations in life that can be very difficult and conflict-ridden:

  • You'll soon be 18 and you won't get any help then.

  • You live in residential youth welfare.

  • As a refugee, you have to deal with youth welfare services.

  • You have conflicts with your guardian.

  • You live in a foster family.
